NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION ON VEGETABLES

As many of us are feeding vegetables to our dogs these days, I thought this chart may be of interest to you, especially if your dog is on a diet.

I have tried to measure all the vegetables equally, but the frozen asparagus and raw tomato are not 1/2 cup portions. There were more raw vegetables offered on this site, so I used all of those, and I added the frozen equivalent if it was available. As you can see, there is very little difference in calorie content, sodium content, calcium content, etc. between fresh and frozen in most of the vegetables.

Raw vegetables are best for nutrition, of course, but frozen is a very close second choice. Canned vegetables are a very bad choice, as a rule.

Salt is one of the things you should be most concerned about. Never buy vegetables for your dog with salt added or add salt to the vegetables you cook for your dog (remember that butter has a high salt content).
